Background
Modicare is a multilevel marketing brand comprising of product categories such as Personal Care, Home Care, Auto Care & Laundry Care. These products are sold by ‘Modicare Consultants’ and not off the shelf.
Challenge
The product is a concentrated detergent that needs to be diluted. The concentrated liquid is usually poured into another container before it can be used. New bottles were to be designed that would improve the user interaction.
Design Research
Based on the focused observation, insights were jotted down and strategy was formulated to eliminate the user’s difficulties in opening the seal and to give a better grip with wet hands.
Elephant Solution
Team Elephant designed a bottle with an intuitive form that suggested a way to hold the bottle and
allowed a new form for shelf recognition. The bottle cap was designed for better grip and a built in
seal opener was provided. A colour system was introduced to aid recognition of detergent system.
Result
The bottle is being successfully sold on shelves of Modicare stores for the last 4 years
